Here is an example of a Shoveler Drake decoy that I painted for a customer who contacted me regarding the restortion of one of his Grandfather's decoys.

I also paint for other carvers, so if you are good at carving, but not so good at the finishing part, please email me and we'll talk it over!

Another memorable occasion was when we were asked to create a special "angry" Canada goose.

And the story goes like this...

One day a great and mighty goose hunter shot himself a goose and went over to pick it up.

Much to this hunter's surprise, it turned out that the goose was merely 'winged' and quickly became enraged at the hunter.

It was said that this 'really angry' Canada Goose chased the surprised hunter, gun in hand, all the way back to his car.

Surely it was a 'Kodak Moment'.

Here is the 'winged' Canada Goose we created for him.

Jim Wright, an author who has written several books about nature and wildlife, contacted me about a year ago and asked me if I'd be interested in doing a family of wood ducks for him to use in promoting his new book "Duck Enough To Fly."

I was working with George Bell at the time, and we both agreed to make them. George did the carving, and I did the painting.

"Duck Enough To Fly" is a children's book about baby wood ducks leaving the safety of their nesting box and venturing forth into the world. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, rarely captured with a camera. The photography is breath taking!

If you are interested in purchasing this book, please contact Jim at jamesbwright@verizon.net The cost for the book is $16.00, which includes S/H.

After much experimenting with different paints, I've settled on using Ronan oils due to the subtle hues and soft colors which lend to a more lifelike appearance. Each piece has it's own unique character and charm.
